Terms
Sonoku Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-08-02
These terms are an agreement between you and VIVA BOOKING LLC ("Viva Booking," "we," "us") for using the Sonoku service, including our applications and websites, which performs a curated catalog of comics and manga as narrated visual audio books.
We've kept these as readable as we could. Questions: support@sonoku.app.
1. Using Sonoku
You must be at least 13 years old to use Sonoku. By creating an account you confirm that you are, and that you'll use the service as described here. You're responsible for activity on your account; keep your sign-in method (Apple, Google, or your email inbox) secure.
2. Your subscription
- A subscription unlocks the full catalog. The price is the one shown to you at the point of purchase, before you confirm. It can vary by region, and if we change it we'll tell you the same way we tell you about changes to these terms (section 13). New subscribers may be offered a free trial; its length is shown when you subscribe, and you won't be charged if you cancel before it ends.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Payment is taken by the app store or payment provider you subscribed through, at confirmation of purchase and again at each renewal.
- Cancelling: you can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in the subscription settings of the app store or payment provider you subscribed through. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled under the terms of the app store or payment provider that processed your payment; we can't issue those refunds directly, but if something went wrong, email us and we'll help you sort it out.
- Sonoku is free to try without a subscription: anyone can play the designated free preview episode, and creating a free account unlocks the free, public-domain, and Creative-Commons catalog. A subscription unlocks the full catalog. Listening to titles you already have access to is not metered.
3. The catalog, and how you may use it
Sonoku's catalog is licensed to you for personal listening. The comics, narrated performances, audio descriptions, and scripts in Sonoku are provided for your personal, non-commercial use within the service. You may not extract, download, record, redistribute, sell, or publicly perform the audio, scripts, or artwork, and you may not use them to create derivative products.
The underlying works belong to their rights holders. Sonoku performs titles it has the right to offer: works that are in the public domain, available under Creative Commons, or licensed to VIVA BOOKING LLC; the comics themselves remain the property of their respective rights holders. Your access grants a personal, non-transferable license to stream and listen, not a transfer of any rights in the works.
4. Acceptable use
Don't:
- extract, download, redistribute, resell, or publicly share the audio, scripts, or artwork Sonoku provides;
- reverse engineer, scrape, probe, or interfere with the service, or attempt to extract our models, prompts, or data;
- use the service to build a competing dataset or product;
- circumvent access controls, subscription gating, or content protection.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Copyright complaints
We respect rights holders. If you believe content in Sonoku's catalog infringes your copyright, email support@sonoku.app with the details required by the DMCA (identification of the work, the allegedly infringing material, your contact information, a good-faith statement, and your signature) and we'll respond promptly. Our designated copyright agent for DMCA notices is reachable at support@sonoku.app.
6. What you send us
Sonoku lets you report a problem, flag a wrong voice or a misread line, and send us feedback. When you send one of these, you give us permission to use it to fix and improve the service, including the performances and the models behind them, with no payment owed to you and no time limit. We won't publish your submissions under your name. We don't treat them as confidential, so please don't send us anything private, and only send us material that is yours to share.
7. The service
Performances in Sonoku's catalog may be produced by automated systems, by human performers, or by a combination, and this varies by title. We work hard on accuracy, but a performance may occasionally misattribute a line or misread a moment. The service may change, and titles may be added or removed as the catalog and product evolve. We may interrupt the service for maintenance or updates.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT GENERATED AUDIO WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VIVA BOOKING LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE (OR $50 IF YOU PAID NOTHING). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Viva Booking against claims arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the service.
11. Termination
You can stop using Sonoku anytime and delete your account in the app's account settings (see the Privacy Policy for what deletion covers). We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these terms; where reasonable, we'll warn you first. Sections that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) survive termination. If we terminate without cause mid-billing-period, your remedy is the unused portion of that period, handled through the app store or payment provider you subscribed through.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Nevada, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. For material changes we'll notify you in the service before they take effect; the effective date above will always tell you the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
