What happens in The Potion Contest?
Pepper arrives in Komona just in time for the contest introduced in episode 3. The mayor presents four competing witches: Coriander, Saffron, Shichimi, and Pepper. Their public demonstrations soon become far less orderly than planned.
A volatile potion transforms Coriander's bird familiar into a giant rampaging canary that tears through the town square. Pepper confronts the creature and finds an unconventional way through the chaos. This is the largest cast and most action-driven story among Sonoku's first six episodes.
A multi-character accessible audio comic
Distinct voices identify Pepper, Saffron, Coriander, Shichimi, and the mayor without requiring the listener to see every speech bubble. Audio description explains the contest layout, magical transformations, character reactions, and fast physical action. Crowd ambience, impacts, magic effects, and music create a cinematic scene while the original artwork remains synchronized throughout playback.
